Governed by God

S3E5 – The First Amendment and Education

Listen Later

On this week's episode I look at the relationship between the First Amendment and Education. Does the First Amendment mean that the government cannot base its laws and policies on God's word? And how can the government be "neutral" in the classroom? To give a real-life example, I look at Policy 321 that is being proposed in the Central Bucks School District in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. That policy attempts to keep the classroom neutral. At a recent board meeting, one of the liberal board members argued that there is no such thing as neutrality within the classroom. Is that really true? And if it is, how should that cause Christians and other conservatives to think about the concept of neutrality?
