Sometimes the tried and true method just doesn't fit. You may have had success as a parent and watched your oldest child stand on the podium and accept the spelling bee trophy only to find that for you second child, reading doesn't come easy. In this example a blanket approach to parenting  might fall short. 

Yet this same child who struggles to spell and read seems to be able to play the piano by ear. Its so important to understand and respect their uniqueness. Whether it be  children or our opportunities it may require us to be flexible and look for the special ingredient that brings out the most in that person or opportunity.
