This episode is one of the most famous stories told by Jesus - the prodigal son. He describes a rebellious (disrespectful) son and a religious son with a great father. The son runs off to a foreign land, spends his inheritance, and comes up on hard times. His father (symbolic to God) redeems his rebellion and fast living. He goes back home and runs to the Father. The Father welcomes him home with open arms.
