In lieu of the 150ish words of quotidian, florid bitching about this show I usually shit out into this space, I'd like to instead say that I've had really excellent experiences with Persian/Iranian people and culture throughout my life. Like, to the point where it stands out from any other given specific nationality/ethnicity when I think about my exposure as a white American to the remainder of the world.

A family member got married and his wife's family threw a fully sick and literally spectacular Persian wedding ceremony that had some really interesting decor and symbolism going. I had one of the most intensely emotional live music experiences in 25 years with this sorta traditional Persian/fusion world music band in Austin. A lot of my experience around 9/11 and the throbbing, virulent Islamophobia coursing through the suburbs of middle America was mercifully tempered by my friendship with a few Iranian immigrant classmates.

Basically: fuck this episode. It's boring and it sucks ass. Instead you should read this excellent and relatively succinct article about the USA and imperialism vis a vis Iran's succession of rulers:
