Divorces involve deciding who gets what assets. Assets gained during marriage count as marital assets. These include things like houses, businesses, and stocks.

*Marital assets are only those accumulated during the marriage. *Assets like stock options exercised but not paid out by the divorce date are still divided. *Assets acquired after the divorce are not divided. Not even if the acquisition is shortly after.

Anything acquired after the divorce is not shared. This rule applies even if the new asset is a thriving business. A business started immediately after the divorce.
