As leaders we know that we often fall into the cycle of saying yes to too much and saying no to others helping and supporting us. Whenever we start something new, we are often our own worst critic. This week I want to talk with you about another need we as leaders have, yet often lack in our quest for achievement, perfection, and badassery…and that something is self-compassion.
The perfectionist in us often struggles with learning how to bounce back and learn from failure and we are not always kind or compassionate in our own self talk. When I began to think about this season and what we really need as leaders, self-compassion kept coming back around over and over. In this episode I begin to share information and strategies from Dr. Kristin Neff’s book, Self-Compassion - The Proven Power of Being Kind To Yourself.
As we continue to lead in very trying times with unprecedented challenges, I would argue that we have never needed self-compassion more.
