There is an old joke which goes “Audio without video is radio. Video without audio is surveillance.”. While it may be true, it also underscores the key role which audio plays in our experience when we are watching a show or an event. Audio is every bit as complex as video, but for many editors – whose key focus is the picture – audio can be a bit of a chore.
