This week on the Reel Down the ginger beards get to talk with one of the true OG’s of tournament kayak fishing, the head honcho of the Hobie BOS Series himself, AJ McWhorter. We discuss where he got his start with kayak fishing, his beginnings as a tournament director with grass roots clubs, and how that has evolved over the years into being the director of the Hobie BOS series. AJ also gives us some insight to what the potential future for a “pro” kayak series would look like and how the new Hobie BOS College Series plays a part of that. Then we look at some of the big rule changes coming to the Hobie BOS series for the 2023 season, including the most controversial of them all, getting rid of the check in pizza.
