This week on Bass Fishing for Noobs, We welcome back another longtime veteran of kayak angling, Craig Dye, to talk about one of his favorite techniques… the crankbait!

We begin by catching up with Craig and see what he's been up to since the last time he was on the noobs show way back in October of 2020. Once we are all caught up, we quickly dive into all things crankbaiting.

Craig breaks down why he chooses to throw a crankbait, especially in the spring. In order to be successful with a crankbait, rod choice is very important. Craig tells Sean and Susie about several different setups he uses, including choosing a middle of the road speed (6:8:1) reel ratio, and also his line of choice, 12 lb mono. Craig fills us in on why he chooses to throw mono when so many other anglers fill entire spools with expensive fluorocarbon lines.

After talking rods, reels, and line, Craig then talks about specific crankbaits he loves and how he chooses between his favorites, including color choices and the depth he is targeting.
