Feasting on Truth

S8 Episode 1: Fulfilled: An Easter Study - Week 1 (Context and Matthew 21)

Listen Later

I love Easter. I love what it represents. I love what it means for us. But 2000 years ago, they didn’t know. They didn’t realize. They couldn’t see. Yet. The Gospel of Matthew provides a unique perspective on the life of Jesus, with a heavy emphasis on the Kingdom of God. Matthew points over and over to the fact that this kingdom was not like any kingdom found on earth. In fact, it was the complete opposite. It was an upside down kingdom.

In this first teaching, Erin Warren gives the context of the book of Matthew as well as dives in to Matthew 21:1-17 (The Triumphal Entry and Jesus Cleanses the Temple). Right off the bat, we see Matthew reiterating two of his key themes for the book: Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy and He is the new Moses and the promised Messiah.
