Have you ever worked at a church or have done an internship where you slowly started to realize that the person who's supposed to be your mentor and supposedly wants the best for you, is low key upset that you're passing them up? The sign of a good mentor or spiritual leader is their ability to push you to become the best version of yourself even if that means you surpass them in that vocation or station.
