That Healing Feeling

Sabrina Sinha: Overcoming Illness and Having Faith in our Athletic Ability

Listen Later

I am beginning Season 2 of my podcast by speaking to the amazing Sabrina Sinha. Sabrina and I competed in biathlon, athletics and cross country together when we were younger, and she has gone on to accomplish many incredible achievements in the athletic field, representing GB & NI in events such as; the European Youth Championships, the World Youth Games and the European Cross Country Championships. In the peak of her condition, Sabrina began to suffer with endometriosis in mid 2016, an extremely painful condition which significantly impacted her life as an athlete and also personally. In this episode, Sabrina and I discuss the difficulty of working with the 'invisibility' of mental and physical illnesses, coping with internal and external doubt, and cultivating resilience and gratitude through adversity. Sometimes we need to take a big step backwards to allow us to move forward in our lives, and Sabrina is an incredible example of someone who held on to hope and didn't lose faith in her individual athletic ability despite challenging circumstances. Sabrina is presently loving running more than ever, achieved a personal best time this summer for the first time in four years and is working towards her long term goal of achieving a senior GB vest! It was amazing to speak to her and we really hope that you enjoy this episode!
