Desmond Lewis quit the Sacramento Fire Department in March of 2021, citing a hostile and toxic work environment rife with sexism, racism, and misogyny. He is now returning after the Department and city of Sacramento have implemented major changes to improve racial diversity and sensitivity, including a budget increase of $2.2 million to create a new division--Diversity, Outreach and Recruitment Division. The problem seems to be, a lot of people were unhappy with the way this young man enacted change. Is there an "acceptable" way for black people to protest in this country?
