How many different tools do you use to keep yourself and your loved ones safe?
There are lots of options: locks, alarms, safes, passwords, arming ourselves, and so on. We spend lots of time and money using these and other tools in order to feel safe. In the back of our minds, though, we know that all of these tools can fail. In most cases, something is certainly better than nothing, but there is no foolproof way to keep anyone perfectly safe.
This week, as we continue in our series on Romans entitled Live By Faith, we'll learn of the only guaranteed means by which we can be safe: the love of God. The conclusion of chapter 8 of Romans has been a touchstone for believers ever since it was written. In verses 31-39, we find a confirmation of the effect that God's love has on us. No matter what we face, we can be sure that God himself can meet us in our suffering and help us to overcome our suffering, even if the suffering isn't removed. Our safety and security rests with the God who created us and loves us.
