New York new slate of gun control laws, signed by Governor Cuomo, includes a red flag law that goes into effect this week. That gives law enforcement and judges more power to take firearms away from people deemed a risk to others or themselves.

There’s also a new law that goes into effect next month requiring that gun owners lock up their firearms when someone under the age of 16 is in the home.
