Empathy goes beyond the capacity to feel another person’s feelings, thoughts, or attitudes. Genuine empathy is the feeling of actually participating in the suffering of another. Our ability to embody love is strengthened based on our ability to put ourselves in someone else's position and love them unconditionally.

Shirzad Chamine says, "Empathizing is about feeling and showing appreciation, compassion, and forgiveness. Empathy has two targets: yourself and others." (Positive Intelligence, pg. 84) As one of the Five Sage Powers, empathy is the antidote to the negative emotions created by our Judge.
