John Henry Newman - the eldest son of a London banker, grew up as an Anglican, then on 9th October 1845 he was received into Roman Catholic Church.
In 1879 Pope Leo XIII made him a cardinal in tribute to his extraordinary work and devotion. He was declared saint on 13th October 2019.
