The Lost Crimes Library

Sakia Gunn / Kerrice Lewis

Listen Later

TW: This episode contains descriptions of violence and discrimination against the LGBT community and may be triggering for some listeners.

Case # 1: On the night of May 11, 2003, Sakia Gunn was returning from a night out in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, with her friends. But a volatile encounter with two angry men at a bus stop in downtown Newark that night would turn fatal for Sakia Gunn, who was just 15 years old.

Case #2: In 2019, a Washington, D.C. woman named Kerrice Lewis would be the target of a brutal murder. Like Sakia, she too was a proud lesbian and the victim of a cruel crime.
