Here is a folk song I composed back in undergrad in New Mexico. I was really influenced by Mumford and Sons back then and a lot of local musicians also liked that acoustic style. Let the song take on any meaning to you, but I personally wrote it while frustrated, studying for the GRE grad school entrance exams. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Lyrics:
There comes a point in every man's life
Where you ask yourself son,
Just how far have I come
Just what have I done
I've taken the beaten path
Was this all a waste of time?
When will it all end?
Could I just get a sign?
I've grown so tired
of all these games,
these bags under my eyes
no salt left in these veins.
With all the strength I have left
Could I have just one more day
Try as I might
Will it matter any way
I've become skin and bone
Although I eat every day
Try as I might
I'm withering away
---
Don't tell me how much time I have left
Don't tell me how close I've come
For when I lay my head to rest
I'll know that I've won
