Sam Newman's stroke scare and hospital recovery

Listen Later

Former AFL champion Sam Newman, 80, underwent emergency surgery and spent 10 days at the Alfred Hospital after suffering two mini-strokes caused by a clogged artery disrupting blood flow to his brain. The veteran broadcaster is now speaking publicly about his experience to raise awareness about stroke symptoms, as more than 45,000 Australians suffer strokes annually.
