Same Chaos, New Zip Code: Our Relocation Story

הגענו לפרק 30! מי היה מאמין שיש לנו כל כך הרבה מה להגיד?
קראנו כמה פוסטים של אחרים על רילוקיישן, וכמובן שהם מיד העלו בנו מחשבות והיה לנו מה להגיד עליהם.
משם חזרנו לקיץ שלנו בארץ, לגעגועים, לבית, ולשאלה הקבועה: איפה אנחנו מרגישות בבית עכשיו?

We made it to episode 30! Who knew we’d have so much to say?
We read a few posts from other people about their relocation experiences, and of course, they got us thinking — and talking.
From there, we went back to our summer in Israel, to missing home, and to that question we keep coming back to: where does home feel like home now?

We landed in Israel, the kids ran straight to their friends, and for us, the excitement and the longing started to settle down.

We noticed the things that had changed, the things that stayed exactly the same and how each of us can see the exact same situation a little differently. Summer back home is the best

Today is a special episode for two reasons. First, it's Tamar's birthday, so Happy Birthday! 🎉
And second, for the first time, we're handing the mic to Elad to hear what relocation looked like from his point of view.
Let's find out whether we've really been living the same relocation... or if each of us has been living a completely different version of it.

חופש גדול ראשון בארצות הברית, ופתאום מצאנו את עצמנו משוות הכול. בין המנטליות של הילדים הישראלים לזו של הילדים האמריקאים, בין החופש שהכרנו בארץ לתחושת הביטחון שאנחנו מרגישים כאן, ובין הקיץ של הילדים שלנו לקיץ שאנחנו זוכרים מהילדות שלנו.

Our first summer in the U.S., and suddenly we found ourselves comparing everything. The mindset of Israeli kids versus American kids, the freedom we knew back home versus the sense of security we feel here, and the summers our children are having compared to the ones we grew up with.

אחרי שבפרק הקודם שמענו את הקבוצה הראשונה של הילדים, הגיע הזמן לתת את המיקרופון לקבוצה השנייה. הפעם אנחנו מדברות עם ילדי החטיבה והתיכון על החיים ברילוקיישן, על החברים שהשאירו מאחור, על ההתחלות החדשות, על האתגרים וגם על הדברים שהפתיעו אותם בדרך. וגם הפעם, הם לא רק עונים על השאלות שלנו- הם גם שואלים אותנו בחזרה. אז בואו נשמע איך כל המסע הזה נראה דרך העיניים של מי שחווים אותו בגיל שבו כל שינוי מרגיש קצת יותר גדול.

After hearing from the first group of kids in our last episode, it's time to hand the microphone over to the second group. This time, we're talking with our middle and high school kids about life in relocation—the friends they left behind, the new beginnings, the challenges, and even the unexpected moments along the way. And just like last time, they're not only answering our questions... they're asking us a few of their own. So join us as we see what this relocation journey looks like through the eyes of those experiencing it during a period in life when everything feels extremely major.

Today we're handing the microphone over to the real stars of relocation. Our kids. We asked them questions, gave them the chance to speak freely, and even let them interview us in return. The result?
