Find a chair, perhaps a recliner
and tune out life’s buzz saw
listening to something finer
then all the pop pulp
crap in the world
or the funniest one-liners....Yeah
True blues are refiners
of all of your pain
daily wracking your brain
one must never abstain
dem Blues will park your ass
and all your funky
moods will stop
they soothe with a wail
they bless to the max
steel strings that will bind you
as you groove to the sax
Close your eyes as you sit there
Let blues ease all your cares
With those sweet vibes that ooze
from the top of your head
to your toe tapping shoes
Hear the masters perform
notes they wrote to reform
all the sorrows that borrow
on your hopes for tomorrow ...yeah
They say music can soothe
the most savage of beasts
and beasts don’t have a chance
when true blues are released
They slip into your ears
and fill your mind with Joy
doing exactly the opposite
of what life’s blues employ.
Feed them blues
into your headphones
and don’t you ever leave home
without their cure in your ears
cause they can help you atone
for the drudge of the day
and the dues you must pay
let them carry you away
and then you’ll beg them stay.

aren’t bad news
or long sermons in pews
they are written to lift up
the spirit in you
