As a third-generation member of the Church in Sweden, Samuel enjoyed an idyllic childhood and adolescence full of faith. But when his brother and parents decided to leave the Church, it was “like lightning from a clear sky.” Rather than becoming stymied by the shock, Samuel chose to pursue his own search for difficult answers with determination and passion. As he dug in to gospel topics, he rediscovered and deepened his admiration and love for Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and concluded that “knowledge is a principle of salvation.”
