A virtual seminar with science-fiction legend Samuel R. Delany
Samuel R. Delany is a science fiction writer and critic whose work explores the intersections of science, race, literature, and sexuality in modern society. Born in Harlem in 1942, he became a crucial figure in the New Wave of science fiction in the 1960s with such novels as the Nebula Award-winning Babel-17 (1966) and The Einstein Intersection (1967); the winner of two Hugo Awards, he was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2002. His other works include the nonfiction book Times Square Red, Times Square Blue (1999) about the gentrification of New York City’s Times Square and In Search of Silence: The Journals of Samuel R. Delany (2017). He lives in Philadelphia.
