SAMUEL STUART: Digital IDs: Why collaboration and interoperability are key

Listen Later

Digital identity is becoming an increasingly pertinent topic for government, private enterprise, consumers and citizens, both locally and overseas. And while Australia is working on legislative frameworks for establishing permanent governance structures and privacy protections for a Digital Identity system, the industry as a whole still has a long way to go. In this episode, Blair speaks to Samuel Stuart, Director of Digital Identity at Mastercard. They discuss existing industry challenges and the importance of good user experience and choice in driving acceptance and usage of a digital identity system. They explore the various understanding – or lack thereof – of what a digital identity actually is, and what it means for private enterprise versus government versus consumers. Importantly, they discuss why collaboration and interoperability is absolutely key, and what the journey ahead may look like as the industry works together to find universal identity solutions. Listen in to learn about all this plus data minimisation, the role of sovereign data centres, privacy by design and more.
