San Diego, CA Surf Report for 02-13-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders and beach lovers! We're looking at some serious ocean action hitting Southern California's coastline.

Get ready for a wild ride along Orange County and San Diego shores. A High Surf Advisory is dropping from 4 AM Friday through 4 AM Saturday with massive swells that'll make even seasoned surfers take notice.

Today's conditions are already intense with 3 to 5 foot waves rolling in from a south swell tracking at 200 degrees. But hold onto your boards because Friday is going to be a game changer. Orange County will see surf heights climbing to 5 to 7 feet with a killer mix of west and south swells. San Diego? You're in for an even more epic experience with waves potentially reaching 7 to 10 feet!

Water temperatures are holding steady between 56 to 58 degrees - chilly but totally manageable with the right wetsuit. Pro tip: layer up!

The real headline here is the HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK. This isn't your average beach day. Life-threatening currents are LIKELY. Translation: unless you're an experienced ocean athlete, stay close to shore and watch those warning flags.

Tide schedules are dynamic with multiple low and high points throughout the day. Newport Beach and La Jolla will experience dramatic tide shifts ranging from negative foot levels to impressive 5+ foot peaks.

Bottom line: Respect the ocean. Check local conditions. And if you're not 100% confident in your skills, enjoy the view from the sand. Stay safe and surf smart!
