Listen Later

Surf's up, beach lovers! Hold onto your boards because Southern California is serving up some serious wave action this weekend.

Orange County and San Diego are bracing for a high-energy surf scene with some seriously gnarly conditions. Today's forecast is throwing down a High Surf Advisory that'll keep even seasoned wave riders on their toes.

In Orange County, expect surf heights dancing between 3 to 6 feet with a mix of west and south swells creating dynamic water patterns. Water temperatures are hovering around a chilly 55 to 59 degrees - wetsuit weather for sure. The rip current risk is cranked up to HIGH so surfers and swimmers need to bring their A-game and stay alert.

San Diego's looking even more intense with massive 6 to 9 foot waves powered by a strong west swell. The rip current risk remains high, making this a playground for experienced surfers only. Water temperatures are similarly cool at 55 to 58 degrees.

Tomorrow's forecast shows things mellowing slightly - Orange County will see 2 to 4 foot surf with a moderate rip current risk, while San Diego maintains a high-risk 3 to 5 foot wave scenario. The swell direction will shift slightly but still promise exciting conditions.

Tidal movements add another layer of complexity with multiple low and high tides throughout the day at locations like Newport Beach and La Jolla.

Bottom line: Respect the ocean, know your limits, and if you're not an experienced wave rider, enjoy the show from the safety of the beach. Stay stoked and stay safe!
