San Diego, CA Surf Report for 02-17-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! We've got an epic ocean update coming your way from Southern California's coastline. Buckle up for a serious swell situation developing tomorrow.

Today's looking pretty mellow with gentle 1 to 3 foot waves cruising into Orange County and San Diego, peaking around 4 to 5 feet. Water's chilly but not crazy cold hovering between 55 and 59 degrees. Current rip current risk is low to moderate so casual surfers can breathe easy.

But listen up - Tuesday is bringing the thunder... wave-wise, that is! We're talking a serious surf party with waves climbing 3 to 6 feet and potential sets reaching a massive 7 feet. Newport Beach and La Jolla are about to get hammered with some serious oceanic energy.

The swell's coming from multiple directions - 260 and 180 degrees for Orange County, while San Diego's looking at a consistent 270 degree approach. Translation: complex wave patterns that'll challenge even experienced wave hunters.

Rip current risk is jumping from moderate to HIGH tomorrow. This means life-threatening conditions are likely. Experienced surfers might want to play, but weekend warriors should seriously reconsider hitting the water.

Tide charts show interesting fluctuations with morning and evening low tides around 1.3 to 1.7 feet, and midday highs between 2.6 and 3.4 feet. Newport Beach and La Jolla will see some dramatic tide movements.

Bottom line - tomorrow's not a day for the faint of heart. Stay alert, check conditions, and respect the ocean's power. Surf safe!
