Surf Report for San Diego California

San Diego, CA Surf Report for 03-14-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! This is your coastal report for Orange County and San Diego, and things are looking wild today.

If you're planning to hit the waves, brace yourself for some serious ocean action. We're talking a gnarly west swell coming in at 280 degrees that's pushing surf heights between 3 to 6 feet in Orange County, with some local sets climbing up to 7 feet this morning. San Diego's looking even more intense, with waves ranging 4 to 6 feet and some monster sets potentially reaching 8 feet.

Rip current risk is screaming HIGH today, so surfers and ocean enthusiasts need to bring their A-game and serious caution. These aren't your average waves - they're the kind that demand respect and skill.

Water temperatures are sitting in the chilly zone between 55 to 59 degrees, so you'll want that wetsuit locked and loaded. Newport Beach and La Jolla have nearly identical tide patterns today, with low tides in the early morning around 4:50-5:00 AM and high tides mid-morning.

For Saturday, things calm down slightly. Orange County will see surf heights dropping to 2 to 4 feet with a moderate rip current risk. San Diego's keeping the intensity a bit longer, maintaining high rip current risk with 3 to 5 foot waves.

Bottom line: If you're an experienced surfer, today's your playground. If you're a novice, maybe watch from the beach and enjoy the show. Stay safe, stay smart, and ride those waves responsibly!
