Surf's up, coastal crew! We've got the lowdown on this weekend's ocean vibes straight from the National Weather Service.
Starting with Orange County, we're looking at a mellow 2 to 3 foot surf with a super chill low rip current risk. Water's sitting at a crisp 54 to 58 degrees - wetsuit recommended. Newport Beach is serving up some sweet tide action with a morning high of 4.1 feet and a midday low around 0.5 feet. The swell mix is interesting - a west swell cruising in at 270 degrees blending with a south swell rolling through at 190 degrees.
Hop down to San Diego County and things get a bit more spicy. We've got a moderate rip current risk, so water warriors need to stay alert. The surf is holding steady at 2 to 4 feet with water temps warming up slightly to 57 to 60 degrees. La Jolla's tides are doing a dance with multiple highs and lows throughout Sunday. The swell pattern is similar to Orange County but with slightly different angles - a west swell at 280 degrees merging with a south swell coming in at 210 degrees.
For both regions, zero thunderstorm potential means clean conditions. Surfers and beach lovers can expect consistent waves with manageable conditions. Remember the golden rule: respect the ocean, know your limits, and always keep an eye on those rip current risks.
Stay stoked and stay safe out there, coastal riders!
