San Diego, CA Surf Report for 04-01-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, beach lovers and wave chasers! We've got a seriously charged coastal forecast coming in hot for both Orange County and San Diego.

Buckle up for some gnarly conditions across Southern California's shores. Both regions are reporting a HIGH rip current risk that demands your full attention. Translation: these waters are not for the faint of heart.

Orange County is serving up waves between 3 to 5 feet with some beastly sets hitting 6 feet. San Diego's taking it up a notch with 4 to 6 foot waves and potential sets reaching a massive 7 feet. Surfers will want to bring their A-game and some serious skills.

Water temperatures are hovering in the chilly 55 to 60 degree range, so grab that wetsuit if you're planning to paddle out. The swell is coming in from the west northwest around 270 to 290 degrees, promising some clean and consistent wave patterns.

Tide action looks dynamic today. Newport Beach and La Jolla will experience dramatic shifts from negative tide levels in the morning to substantial high tides later in the day. Expect dramatic low points around -0.7 to -0.8 feet in the morning, climbing to impressive highs near 5.8 feet by late night.

Good news for those worried about unexpected weather drama - zero thunderstorm potential means clean conditions. But don't get too comfortable - those high rip currents are no joke.

Be smart. Be prepared. And most importantly, respect the ocean's power. Stay safe out there, wave riders!
