Surf Report for San Diego California

San Diego, CA Surf Report for 04-07-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! Today's looking like a wild ride along the Southern California coast.

Orange County is serving up some sweet 2 to 4 foot waves with occasional sets pushing to 5 feet. Water's chilly at 53 to 59 degrees, so grab that wetsuit! Rip currents are running moderate today, which means stay alert and watch those currents.

Down in San Diego, things are getting spicy with a high rip current risk. Expect 3 to 5 foot waves that could spike to 6 feet - definitely not for the beginner paddlers. Both regions are seeing swell coming in strong from 270 degrees, which means a west-northwest direction that'll give some nice clean lines.

Tidal action is looking dynamic. Newport Beach and La Jolla will see multiple tide shifts today - low points around 1-2 feet and highs reaching 4.5 to 4.7 feet. Early morning and late evening are your prime tide windows.

No thunderstorms in the forecast, so electrical hazards are off the table. Just pure oceanic energy waiting to be shredded.

Pro tip: Check local conditions before heading out. These swells demand respect and skill. Whether you're a seasoned local or a curious newcomer, the Pacific is calling - but safety always comes first.

Catch you on the waves!
