Surf's up, wave riders! We've got an exciting forecast rolling in for Orange County and San Diego coastal zones.
Today's looking like a moderate risk day with waves dancing between 2 to 4 feet. Water temperatures are chilly but bearable at 55 to 60 degrees - wetsuit recommended! Newport Beach and La Jolla are seeing some interesting tide action with four distinct tide shifts throughout the day.
But Friday is where things get spicy! Orange County surfers - heads up - we're looking at a HIGH rip current risk with waves pumping 3 to 5 feet. This mixed swell coming from 190 and 270 degrees means some unpredictable water conditions. San Diego coastal areas will see similar action with waves potentially reaching 5 feet during sets.
The swell direction is complex - we've got incoming waves from multiple angles which means exciting but potentially challenging surfing conditions. Those 210 and 280 degree angle swells will keep things interesting for experienced riders.
Water temperatures remain consistent in the mid to upper 50s. No thunderstorm potential means clear skies, but those rip currents are no joke. If you're not a seasoned surfer, consider staying close to lifeguard stations and always respect the ocean's power.
Experienced surfers - this is your playground. Newbies - maybe watch and learn today. Stay safe, read the water, and enjoy the ride!
Catch you on the waves!
