Surf's up, wave riders! This is your coastal condition report for Southern California coming in hot from the National Weather Service.
Orange County and San Diego are serving up some spicy surf conditions today that'll get your adrenaline pumping. We've got a high rip current risk along the Orange County coastline with waves cranking between 3 to 5 feet - so surfers and ocean enthusiasts better bring their A-game and stay alert.
San Diego's looking at a slightly mellower scene with moderate rip current risks and surf heights hovering around 2 to 4 feet. Water temperatures are sitting in that chilly range between 57 to 60 degrees - wetsuit weather for sure.
The swell is mixing it up with some delicious south and west action. Orange County's seeing swells rolling in from 190 degrees and 260 degrees, while San Diego's got incoming waves from 210 and 270 degrees. Translation: expect some dynamic wave patterns that'll keep things interesting.
Tide schedule is looking dynamic too. Newport Beach and La Jolla will experience four tide shifts today - dropping low in the morning around 6:20 AM, peaking midday, dipping again in the evening, and then rising to a final high point late night.
No thunderstorm action in the forecast, so you can leave those lightning fears at home. Just pure oceanic energy waiting to be ridden.
Pro tip: Check those rip current warnings. Moderate to high risks mean stay sharp, know your limits, and maybe consider bringing a buddy. Stay stoked and stay safe out there, wave warriors!
