Surfers and beach lovers, grab your boards and sunscreen because we've got the scoop on this weekend's coastal conditions!
Mother Nature is serving up a mellow surf scene along Southern California's coastline. We're looking at a consistent 1 to 3 foot swell that'll keep things playful but not epic. Newport Beach and La Jolla are both rocking similar vibes with gentle waves perfect for beginners and intermediate riders.
Water temperatures are sitting comfortably between 59 and 62 degrees - wetsuit weather but not Arctic conditions. You'll want that 3/2 or 4/3 to stay comfortable out there.
The swell direction is mixing it up with a south swell around 190 degrees near Orange County and a slightly angled southwest swell at 220 degrees for San Diego. Translation: clean lines and smooth transitions for wave hunters.
Rip current risk is staying low across both regions which means relatively safe conditions. But hey surfers - always stay alert and read the water. Those sneaky currents can surprise even seasoned wave riders.
Tide schedule looks interesting with multiple high and low tides. Newport Beach will see its first high tide around 1:30 AM at 4.5 feet and La Jolla peaks around the same time at 4.4 feet. Sunday brings some additional tide action with evening peaks.
No thunderstorm threats means clear skies and clean breaks. So wax that board grab your crew and get ready for some sweet Southern California surfing!
Catch you on the waves!
