Surf Report for San Diego California

San Diego, CA Surf Report for 05-11-2025

Listen Later

Surfers and beach lovers, grab your boards and sunscreen because the surf report is here! We're looking at a solid weekend with moderate rip current risks along the Southern California coastline.

Both Orange County and San Diego County are serving up some sweet 2 to 4 foot waves that'll keep things interesting without getting too wild. Water temperatures are hovering between a chilly 59 and 64 degrees, so you'll want that wetsuit handy.

Newport Beach and La Jolla are experiencing some mixed swell action coming from multiple directions - 190, 270, 280, and 210 degrees. Translation: expect some variable wave patterns that'll keep you on your toes.

Let's talk tides. Newport Beach will see some dramatic tide shifts today with lows dipping to negative 0.2 feet in the morning and climbing to a robust 5.5 feet by evening. La Jolla follows a similar pattern with equally dynamic tide movements.

The good news is thunderstorms are nowhere on the radar, so you can leave those lightning fears at home. But don't get too comfortable - those moderate rip currents mean you'll want to stay alert and know your ocean skills.

Recommendation for today: Bring your A-game, respect the ocean, and maybe schedule your surf session during the mid-morning high tide for the most consistent conditions. Stay safe out there, wave riders!
