Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! This is your coastal conditions breakdown for Tuesday, July 1st, coming straight from the National Weather Service.

We're looking at a mellow day along Southern California's coastline with some gentle waves rolling in. Expect surf heights hovering around 1 to 3 feet - perfect for beginners and casual surfers wanting a relaxed session.

The good news is rip current risk remains low across both Orange County and San Diego County coastal zones. Translation: you can paddle out without major concerns about getting unexpectedly swept away.

Water temperatures are sitting comfortably between 61 and 70 degrees - wetsuit optional, but probably recommended for longer sessions. The west swell is coming in from different angles - Orange County sees waves approaching from 270 degrees, while San Diego's coast will experience swells around 280 to 290 degrees.

Tide schedules are looking dynamic today. Newport Beach and La Jolla will experience four tide changes - an early morning high tide around 2:30 AM, a morning low tide near 9:30 AM, an afternoon high tide around 4:30 PM, and an evening low tide around 10:45 PM.

No thunderstorm potential means clean, predictable conditions. So grab your board, check your gear, and get ready to enjoy some smooth California surfing. Stay stoked and stay safe out there!
