San Francisco, CA Sonoma and Marin County Coastal areas Surf Report for 04-22-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up, wave riders! Get ready for an epic coastal adventure along Northern and Central California's stunning shoreline.

Today's looking like a classic California morning with partly cloudy skies and some seriously sweet wave action. Northwest facing beaches are firing with massive 7 to 11-foot swells that'll have advanced surfers drooling. Southwest-facing beaches are serving up a more mellow 3 to 6-foot range perfect for intermediate riders.

Temperature-wise we're looking at a comfortable 52 to 70 degrees - not too hot, not too cold. Winds will start gentle and southwest around 5 miles per hour, then kick up to a more robust northwest flow around 18 miles per hour later in the day.

San Francisco and San Mateo coastal zones are showing consistent 6 to 10-foot waves with water temperatures hovering around a chilly 53 degrees. Expect some patchy fog to add that classic Northern California mystique to your surf session.

Down in Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay, the waves are slightly more subdued but still totally rideable. Santa Cruz will see 6 to 9-foot waves today, dropping slightly to 4 to 7 feet tomorrow. Monterey's looking at 3 to 6-foot swells today.

Tide schedule looks dynamic with multiple high and low points throughout the day. Morning low tide hits around 2 feet, climbing to highs near 5 feet in the evening.

Pro tip: Check local beach conditions and potential closures before heading out. Stay safe, respect the ocean, and catch some epic waves!
