Surf's up, wave riders! The National Weather Service is sounding the alarm for some seriously gnarly conditions across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands today.

High rip current risks are dominating the scene, especially in San Juan, Northeast PR, North Central PR, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Surf heights are cranking around 6 feet with east winds blowing 10 to 15 miles per hour - perfect for experienced surfers but definitely not for beginners.

Today's beach forecast is looking sunny with scattered isolated showers, so grab your board and sunscreen. Just be extra cautious out there. Those rip currents are no joke and can turn a sweet day into a dangerous situation faster than a wipeout.

By Thursday, things will mellow out slightly. Rip current risks will drop to moderate, with surf heights around 5 feet. Expect mostly sunny skies with a chance of scattered showers. The winds will keep things interesting, still blowing steadily from the east.

Weekend warriors can look forward to some continued wave action. Friday and Sunday will serve up similar conditions - surf around 5 to 6 feet, mostly sunny, and those classic east winds keeping the energy high.

Saturday might be a bit more moody with mostly cloudy skies and numerous showers. But hey, sometimes those cloudy days create the most epic surf conditions.

Bottom line: Stay alert, know your limits, and respect the ocean. Catch those waves safely, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands!
