Listen Later

Surf's up, beach lovers! The National Weather Service is dropping some serious wave intel for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands today.

Hold onto your surfboards because we're looking at some gnarly conditions! A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 PM, with massive waves around 10 feet crashing along the northern and eastern coastlines. San Juan, Northeast PR, and North Central regions are experiencing maximum adrenaline potential with high rip current risks that demand serious respect.

Coastline warriors in places like Carolina, Rio Grande, and Arecibo should exercise extreme caution. These aren't your average playground waves - these are life-threatening surf conditions with powerful rip currents ready to challenge even experienced swimmers.

The northwest beaches of Aguadilla and Isabela are seeing northeast winds around 10 mph, while St. Thomas and St. John are experiencing similar wild water conditions with east winds whipping up six-foot swells.

As we roll into Sunday, conditions will mellow out significantly. Surf heights will drop to around 5 feet with a moderate rip current risk. By Monday, things continue to calm down with predominantly sunny skies and east winds maintaining a steady 10-15 mph.

For the more delicate southern regions like Ponce and Vieques, surf heights remain modest at 2-3 feet with low rip current risks.

Bottom line: Today's a day for watching, not swimming. Respect the ocean, stay safe, and enjoy the spectacular maritime show from a safe distance!
