Surf's up, beach lovers! Get ready for a wild weekend of waves across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Today's forecast is packing some serious surf punch with high rip current risks that demand your full attention.

The north and northeast regions are looking at gnarly 6 to 7-foot swells driven by east winds around 15 to 20 miles per hour. Surfers and water enthusiasts, take note: these aren't your typical lazy beach day conditions. Life-threatening rip currents are likely, so proceed with extreme caution.

San Juan, Carolina, and surrounding areas can expect partly sunny skies with scattered showers. The surf will be rough, with waves around 6 feet that will challenge even experienced water athletes. By Sunday, things calm down slightly to moderate rip current risks and 5-foot waves.

Over in the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix are experiencing similar dramatic conditions. Expect east winds whipping around 20 miles per hour and surf heights hitting 6 feet. The high rip current risk extends through this afternoon, so beach safety is paramount.

Looking ahead, Wednesday brings the most exciting surf conditions with waves potentially reaching 8 feet in some areas. Mostly sunny skies and isolated showers will accompany these epic swells.

Bottom line: Respect the ocean, watch for warning signs, and never surf alone. Stay safe, stay smart, and enjoy the incredible maritime playground Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are serving up this weekend!
