Hey beach lovers and wave riders! This is your coastal companion with the latest surf zone scoop for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Grab your boards and sunscreen because we've got a classic Caribbean forecast rolling in. Across most beaches, you're looking at surf heights hovering around 3 feet - perfect for some mellow riding and casual wave catching. The exception? Mayaguez and Southwest regions are sitting a bit lower at 2-foot swells.
Today's weather is playing a bit of hide and seek. Expect mostly cloudy conditions with scattered showers and those classic tropical isolated thunderstorms popping up. Winds are steady from the east at 5 to 10 mph, giving us that consistent Caribbean breeze.
Rip current risk is low everywhere, but don't get too comfortable. Our marine experts remind you that life-threatening currents can still surprise you near groins, jetties, reefs, and piers. Always stay alert and respect the ocean.
St. Croix is bringing a bit more attitude with slightly higher 4-foot surf today and stronger 15 to 20 mph winds. Culebra and Vieques are also seeing some spicier wind conditions around 15 mph.
Sunday looks similar but with slightly more sunshine breaking through the clouds. Expect partly sunny skies, continued east winds, and those intermittent tropical showers keeping things interesting.
Looking ahead to Monday through Wednesday, we're tracking gradually decreasing surf heights and a mix of partly sunny to mostly sunny conditions. Scattered showers will continue to be our background soundtrack.
Stay safe, stay stoked, and enjoy those beautiful Caribbean waters!
