英文儿童童话 三只小猪的故事 第4章
The little Pig worked fast, and he returned homewith a big bag of turnips well before six o’clock.
When the Wolf came, promptly atsix o’clock, he said, “Little Pig, are you ready?”
“Ready?” asked the little Pig, “Ihave been and come back again, and got a nice big bag full! I’m cooking somenow for my breakfast.”
The Wolf felt very angry at this, but thought that he would get the little Pig somehow or other; so he said,“Little Pig, I know where there is a nice apple-tree.”
“Where is this apple tree?” saidthe Pig.
“Down at Merry-garden,” repliedthe Wolf; “and if you will not deceive me I will come for you, at five o’clocktomorrow, and we will go together and get some apples.”
The little Pig went to bed earlythat night, and got up at four o’clock the next morning.
Well, the little Pig bustled up,and went off for the apples, hoping to get back before the Wolf came; but theWolf was learning and came early. At half past four o’clock, just as he wascoming down from the apple tree, the little Pig saw the Wolf coming, which, asyou may suppose, frightened him very much.
When the Wolf came up he said,“Little Pig, what! are you here before me? Are they nice apples?”
