John Wesley said, “The gospel of Christ knows of no religion, but social; no holiness but social holiness.”  There's a common misconception that you can do life on your own, and that's even been said of our faith. Don’t believe the lie that you can do this on your own. However, there are many who have misconstrued this statement to believe Wesley was saying that the gospel of Christ is the practice of social justice.  A holy life cannot be developed and lived out in isolation but can only be developed and lived out in relationship with other believers. 

And while the two are related, this is not what John Wesley meant at all.
