When we receive a gift freely given by someone who loves us, it is a wonderful thing. When the punishment we deserve for wrongs done is withheld, it is such a relief. That’s grace and mercy. God’s grace and mercy is what He has demonstrated to us in Christ. We are forgiven in Him. He meets us where we are, but He is not content to leave us there. Every day by the Holy Spirit we are being made more like Jesus. Every act of obedience sanctifies us on our lifelong journey.
