Sanctified in the Truth
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” — John 17 verse 17.
Before you were even born, Jesus prayed for you. He asked the Father to sanctify you—that means to set you apart from the world to live as a child of God. But notice: He didn’t say, “Sanctify them by their feelings” or “Sanctify them by good intentions.” He said, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
We live in a generation that confuses holiness with emotion. Many think being close to God means getting goosebumps during a song or feeling emotional in a service. Those moments can be beautiful, but they are not the foundation of sanctification. Holiness is living as God lives—reflecting His character every day, obeying His Word even when it means going against the crowd.
The Bible says being holy is walking in God’s commandments. Adam failed that test in Eden. Now each of us is being tested again. Who will we listen to? The seductive voice of the world saying, “Follow your heart,” or the steady voice of God saying, “Follow My Word”?
Want to know if someone is truly holy? You don’t need a “feelings check.” Look at their life: Do they fear disobeying God? Do they seek to know the Bible? Do they live to please Christ even when no one is watching? That’s the real fruit of sanctification.
If you stop searching the Scriptures and think you already know enough, you’re falling into the very trap Satan wants—trusting your own understanding instead of God’s voice.
Today, the call is clear: Turn back to the Word. Let it shape your thoughts, your actions, your plans. Let it be the filter for your decisions and the fuel for your faith. Jesus didn’t die on the cross so you could live an average life. He died so you could be transformed, sanctified, and ready to reflect heaven here on earth.
