How do I handle things with my child now that a classmate has identified as transgender in their class at school?

Inevitable confrontation

Normalizing, leading to acceptance.

You must make decisions as parents as to how in-depth your child needs to be directly exposed to these issues at different stages of their lives.  

The inevitable does not have to be a part of a 7 or 8 yr olds life.
