Featured Guest: Sarah A. Chrisman

Purchase This Victorian Life

Tonight, Kristin talks with Sarah A. Chrisman about her new book, This Victorian Life, where she recounts what it’s like to explore nineteenth-century culture and technologies from the inside out, living with her husband as they would have in the 1800s. Tonight, Kristin and Sarah discuss life in the Victorian era, feminism, and what one technology Sarah would bring into the twenty first-century if she could.

ABOUT OUR GUEST

Sarah A. Chrisman is the author of This Victorian Life: Modern Adventures in Nineteenth-Century Culture, Cooking, Fashion, and Technology and Victorian Secrets: What a Corset Taught Me about the Past, the Present, and Myself and the editor of True Ladies and Proper Gentlemen. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2002 and, alongside her husband, Gabriel, she gives presentations on nineteenth-century fashion and culture. The couple lives in Port Townsend, Washington, in one of the beautiful nineteenth-century homes they once coveted on visits to Washington’s Victorian seaport.
