Hurricane season is here and we need to be ready. Today we are talking with Division Chief Sarah Brown from Manatee County Animal Services about how to prepare your pets for hurricanes and other emergencies and what local shelters do during emergencies. Microchipping your pet is a huge part of this equation, so we will talk about that as well.

Bio:

Sarah has worked in animal welfare for almost 15 years and is currently the Division Chief for Manatee County Animal Services. Manatee County Animal Services is the county's only open admissions shelter, rescuing almost 4,000 a year. Prior to becoming the Chief of MCAS, Sarah was the Executive Director for the Humane Society of Pinellas as well as the Senior Manager for Quality Control and Development for Animal Care & Control of NYC, one of the largest open admissions shelters in the country. She has experience is almost every facet of shelter operations from fundraising, to volunteer management as well as overall shelter operations. She has a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a Master's degree in Public Administration. She resides with her 4 year old daughter, two dogs and soon her office cat will be moving to her home as well.
