In 1984, Dawakin Tofa Science Secondary School Kano, produced the most outstanding WAEC record when a Sarki Abba Abdulkadir scored the highest results in Nigeria. Sarki is presently a Nigerian-American Professor of Urology and Pathology at Northwestern University and he is leading a research team who are trying to understand the molecular mechanisms that drive cancer initiation, progression and recurrence with the ultimate goal of developing therapies that interfere with these processes.
